Collection of Bruce Edward Engstler of items [manuscript] 19th cent.

The collection includes seven letters, most of which concern domestic life in Maine during the Civil War. Two are written by soldiers, one of which describes camp life in Virginia in 1863. Miscellaneous items include a hardware store bill, two sermons or essays, two notes on the good standing and moral character of a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, Kents Mill, Maine, a ballad Young Charlotte, a soap recipe, and a memorandum from the Louisiana Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands regarding the return of real estate to ex-Confederates.
